It was expected that whoever plays first batting on this pitch particularly after the continuous rain may not score many runs. But Indian batsman performance was worst than expected including captain performance. This is an issue if a team doesn't have any test specialist batsman because test batting and short format batting is completely different. Earlier in the Indian team, Dravid and Lakshman was a test specialist batsman but currently, this Indian team don't have such players.

Now let's see how Indian bowlers will bowl on this pitch and put pressure on England batsman.

India all out in 107 runs . This was just not the start India would have wanted after losing the first test match.  Now only rain could save this test match from India losing it, else it will be 2-0 and England almost might even win this series if it happens in coming matches.

England should go on and win the 2nd test match as they have a big lead now on a pitch that is playing a lot of tricks on the batsman. Thanks to Chris Woakes batting performance 120 n/o has put England in a strong position at the end of day 3, if England get 300+ runs in front I can't see India chasing that target down even now at 250 England I think can win as the Indian batting hasn't improved at all since the 1st test match.

The only thing that can save India now is rain , I just saw the odds in sportsbet.io and it says @3 for draw , I am thinking because of weather forecast . If England declare or get out by lunch today then they have plenty of time to take 10 wickets of Indians . I don't think Indians can bat for 5 sessions and give a lead , my bet is on England to win.

The problem with India is that their batsmen (other than Kohli) can't bat on seaming tracks and their bowlers (especially Ravichandran Ashwin) don't know how to make use of the green pitches.

Yep that was a very poor batting performance by India, there was no fight what so ever and they must be careful or they could lose 5-0. I can't see them winning this test series or even drawing the series with the current performances they have been putting in. After this series it doesn't get any easier for the Indian team as then they must play Australia later this year in a test series where they have never won a series before. Congrats to England on a fine performance.

Look at the current Indian team none of them is a good test player, everyone wants to hit and go expect captain. But you can depend on one person performance to win all the matches. This second test match they lost very badly and surely it will impact on their confidence level to go to the next match or series.

Next world cup also going to happen in England and Wales next year so if India wants to reach at least to qualifying stages then they should practice playing on fast tracks not only just on spin pitches.

Compared to other batsmen Ashwin is far better he played well in both innings. I don't know why the Indian team is selecting T20 players for test cricket. Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul they are hit and run players they will stand for a long time. If this continues it will defintly affect on next series.
