I don't want another LISK fiasco where only a few know what's going on. If there's a simple guide to set up locally or multiple node clusters to prevent overload it would be greatly appreciated! Gives everyone a fair chance to get to the exchanges at the same time.

Yes of course, we are checking security and setting additional servers in data center, all behind cloudflare like the main one.
You will be withdrawing directly from the ICO site.
We will release also first version of lite client with basic features on testnet for public testing very soon in the next days but as planned we want to release lite wallet on beta mainnet sometime after its launch and proper testing.
Please don`t mix Waves lite wallet with web wallet and ICO site. Waves lite client will be running through browser but you will be able to run it in any OS, all by yourself with few clicks on your puter while it is connecting to full nodes.

I purchased some Waves tokens and I wanna get them under my local control ASAP. From what I can see an early version of a Waves wallet for Windows and/or Android will be available sometime in June or July? That sound right?

ICO ends on May, 31. Then after beta mainnet launch you will be able to withdraw your tokens to exchanges wallets and trade it. Near the end of ICO you will be able to test first basic version of lite client(on testnet). Lite client on beta mainnet will be released some time after its launch. You will be able to use it on any platform through your browser. Platform with main features - summer 2016. It will be ongoing development, for now only 1/3 of roadmap for 2016 was revealed. There will be new POS implementation, new scalability approach, tech papers, new features will be appearing in time like voting, messaging, new reputation system on the blockchain and many more. Above 2016 a lot more years of development to come.
