Lykke partners with Government of BangladeshZurich, Switzerland | January 10, 2017Lykke, a Swiss FinTech company building a regulated global marketplace on the blockchain, has signed an agreement with the Access to Information (a2i) Programme of the Prime Ministers Office of Bangladesh for the joint development of blockchain technology to power digitized public services.
Lykke is honored to partner with Bangladesh and proud to play a role in this transformative effort, said Richard Olsen, Lykke founder and CEO. Blockchain technology holds the potential to reduce the time, cost, and effort required to access vital public services online, including financial services, but also identification, land records, and so on. We believe that this will truly accelerate many of the advancements that the Government of Bangladesh has already made in these areas. It can also help to establish a model for other countries to emulate.
The signing ceremony took place during the International Seminar on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Innovation of Public Services, a workshop hosted by a2i and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) from December 911 at the Prime Ministers Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
In attendance were H.E. Mr. Reaz Rahman, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals from the Prime Ministers Office; Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General (Administration) of the Prime Ministers Office and Project Director of a2i; and Mr. Anir Chowdhury, a2is Policy Advisor.
