Data payments are probably a bit further off as it's not one of the high priorities right now. We also don't think it would lead to any higher app usage or stickiness, most end users or publishers won't care too much about that feature. As important as it is, there are other higher priorities like network availability and performance. Also both the wallet client and server is getting a big re-write so this could help make data payments possible down the road.
