It should't work this way. Competition should drive down prices, not good will gestures from overly paid CEOs.

Shutting every small shop and corner store and keeping massive supermarkets open (idiotically, where far more people usually congregate), effectively giving them a monopoly - and thus increasing the chance of inflation because CoViD iS sO dAnGeRoUs was unbelievably stupid.
