0 confirmation deposits coming back again with high confidence levels. Expected next week.
Isn't that very risky for the site? It seems easy to abuse:
1. prepare double spend transaction with much higher fee
2. deposit
3. yolo: double or nothing
4a. if double, wait and withdraw
4b. if nothing, broadcast double spend transaction
This won't work every time, but it will be EV+ for the attacker even if it works only a small percentage of the time.
Pretty familiar when it comes to double spend attacks, we've been around for a bit. Seen it all.
We'll be using Blockcypher's confidence level to determine which deposits warrant 0 confirmations. We'll start extra conservative whilst keeping a close eye on potential abusers. Users with specific criteria will have lower confidence on transactions needed for instant deposits alongside other factors.
think both yolodice and bitsler have their 0 confirmations systems based on Blockcypher's confidence level
in my experience,they both became VERY conservative when crediting
i.e. if before I was almost always getting 0 confirmations deposits,nowadays it is never happenening
not once since like June or so
but this could be useful for big depos,you do not want whales to wait for too long
for an average Joe this will,probably, have no effect whatsoever
