Hello newcomers to Florincoin,
Florincoin has been around since June, 2013, it is a a scrypt-based coin with no premine, and with a unique feature: tx-comments. The tx-comment field can be used to write a note to someone as you are sending a transaction and it can also be used as metadata for a blockchain-based application. All tx-comments are stored in plaintext on the blockchain, and the maximum size of a tx-comment is 528 bytes. You are free to encrypt the data. Be aware that the blockchain will probably last a long time, maybe even longer than the encryption algorithm is considered secure, keep that in mind.
Currently there are some applications using the Florincoin blockchain and its metadata field. The most significant applications using the FLO blockchain are Alexandria and Tokenly. You can find out more about them on
http://tokenly.com/ and
