If this project is aiming at the same kind of usage as facebook, they will have a big compatitor on the market.
If facebook does not join the cryptoworld like this project does, it has a change to survive... be honest... we are already a lot of years using facebook and I think it is time for the next level in social media.
I saw another user commenting on the part that Sphere is not Decentralized, well... depends on where the data is stored.. if we think about the blockchain technology, then yes, the data is stored decentralized.
Maybe the platform itself is not decentralized, but I don't think it's meant to be... Don't forget that everything in the blockchain is there to stay forever, not possible to alter in any way...

yes Spere have a lot of potential, there also have added Credit Card Transactions in the back-office. So that you can convert in bitcoin for invest.

Yes, but someone has to do the first step. Look at Stemit, they are doing not too bad, even if they struggel with some stuff. But if the concept works, Sphere can get a place in crypto social media.
It all comes down to the amount of developers facebook has, and if they plan the same strategic move or not.
We have known some pioneers in social media that dissapeared from the radar or are much less used as before in their glory days.
So.. facebook could be aiming at a whole different target which opens up possibilities for this projects.
