Does it make a difference for staking to send the entire balance of your wallet to yourself, when the contents are made up of many many incoming transactions?

how often do you get staking rewards? I haven't got any yet and my wallet was open for the whole week, almost 24/7. The icon in the lower right corner sais I'm staiking and my weight is around 4000. Am I doing something wrong? I've read everywhere about unlocking your wallet but I don't see such a button. Is my weight too small?
