Because similar to Bitcoin but better.It has a lifetime cap of 84 million as opposed to 21 million for Bitcoin.And a more larger supply for meeting a higher demand..Its block generation time of 2.5 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes for Bitcoin.It has a low transaction fees making it a better medium for small buying or selling...Litecoin has the simpler mining algorithm,meaning that it can be mined on CPUs that take up less energy..
