2018 has not been that good year for bitcoins and ether along with all other major cryptocurrencies. But rather to stay in them for long time, i would prefer investing in proportion in bitcoins as well as etherum. If we see the price for etherum now, it is comparitively much low and we can easily purchase and hold for a long time untill the price reaches moon.

I think the market in 2018 is not ideal. The risk of investment is very high. If you really want to invest in cryptocurrency, it is better to invest in some coins with higher market capitalization. Otherwise, once the coins you invest in fall, you may never recover it's price.
