That sounds dangerous due to different voltage/wattage all that.

Thanks for the detailed setup guide. I finally got it hashing. I am using a o500 watt 8 year old PSU and it wont go on the high clock setting. I am getting the 800 watt Corsair you recommended.

I have one problem thought. I added a 5 port swich to my main router so I could run my MinePeon usb block erupter and the Cube on the same table.
I plugged the network cable into the switch and then the Cube and the PI.
The Pi runs fine connected to the switch, but I cant connect to the Cube, when its plugged into the switch. When I plug the Cube directly into the main router I can connect to it just fine.

Thanks Dogie. I really appreciate you taking the time to look up the PSUs manual. Just please clarify a few things for me. 

i) what did you mean by 'it has 3 individual wire strands so thats fine'

ii) what is the math here for running 3 units on high? I am not quite sure how this works, so if you could help me understand the concept a little better it would help me understand future PSU issues a little better? SO.. it looks like it's got 1044 watts on the +12v rail? So does that mean, if I run nothing else on the PSU it would all be available to the Cubes?  So if a cube requires 280 watts (overclocked) then would three cubes not draw about 840 watts? That would be about 80% of the 1044 watts capacity?  I understand that ideally it should not be running full tilt 24/7. But is 80% not comfortable enough? What is the right margin of safety in your opinion? Or (very likely, I have totally misunderstood this!)

Yes typically never recommended.

i) The PCI-E connectors are on three separate branches of wiring, so we wouldn't be overloading wiring by using them all.

ii) Yes it would all be availible. 80% is fine if it was well distributed, BUT we're not using any of the 12V via the 24pin and 8 pin atx connectors. We're trying to put all its capacity through our three sets of PCI-E wires which aren't designed to take such huge loads.

The analogy is a macdonalds with 4 serving stations, capacity of 400 orders per hour in total. You only put one server up and expect him to be able to do 300 orders per hour. Its not just the overall capacity, its the individual component capacity [in this case the wires].

It doesn't sound like this is your issue, but just in case...

The "block erupter" sticker on the fan hub came off on both of mine and was catching on the fan and clicking (like bicycle spokes across clothes-pinned playing cards)     I thought I had something about to go as well.

You're my absolute hero dogie. With your help I was able to seamlessly setup my blades,
even though I had never spliced cables together like that before. And about twenty minutes
ago, my cube arrived at the door!

I have had similar problems with a couple of my cubes.  They hash at high clock rate for a while, then they stop hashing and report all x's.  I've managed to remove/swap boards around and identify one or two boards that cause the cube to go into all x's.  On one cube, I had to remove three boards to get rid of the x's. On another cube, I had to jiggle the boards to get rid of the all x's, but one board still shows a half row of x's.  Seems like a design flaw if one bad board shuts the whole cube down.

Regarding the derailed boards, almost every single one of my cubes had this issue.  Most (except the two I mentioned) are running fine with no issues.

Clicking noise keeps restarting my miner, until its back to low setting itself.
I think this is connected with power managment , but as I said, the psu is brand ne from the beginning 850w (80+).
2 weeks was fine, after that something bad happen ;/
I used another psu, no difference.
