Hum I thought at Oc'ed Antminer takes around 400 to 440 watts? I read 400 a bunch of times and some people saying up to 440.

This is absolutely fine as there is no actual crossloading. Each blade in an S1 acts independently when it comes to power so you're essentially powering 3 miners on PSU a and 3 on PSU b.

Problems can happen when people power one miner with two PSUs due to crossloading issues.

I use a Corsair RM850 for mine. They are modular and come with a bunch of PSU to PCIE leads. They are the quiet no fan running at less than 40% use and peak efficiency of 92% at around 40% use. I've never seen the fan run yet. They also have full 850W and 70.8A available to the 12V rail.

Just get a good branded make as cheaper ones don't cut the mustard.

So about 14 hours ago I had one of my S1s die, no link light on the Ethernet port on the S1, no hashing LEDs on either blade (no clicking either), just silence with a slow flashing green LED and a solid red LED on the controller board. I tried resetting it with the reset button (I had to do that once before due to a network misconfiguration).

I'm fairly certain the OpenWRT board has died on this Antminer. I've already contacted Sushi about replacing it (since they're only about a month old), however in the mean time, since each blade acts independently, is there a way to connect one or both blades from one S1 to the control board of another one? I've taken a look at how they're wired, and it looks like the controllers are only designed with the one input, and they may lack the processor capacity to functionally use more chips, but anything to reduce my downtime would be assistive!

Has anyone managed to salvage a control board, and if so, how? I see the board has a JTAG interface, and I was thinking about poking around with a debugger, but I don't really know what I'm doing at that point (I guess if I could get to the shell I could run dmesg to see if there are errors, but I don't even know if the board is booting at this point).

Any help would be appreciated! Hashing downtime negatively affects my chances at ROI in a very real way.

It is my understanding that a 6 pin pcie is only rated to supply 75 watts of power, or a total of 150W for two connections. Please help me understand - how does this work if these devices are pulling ~400 watts?

But most of them have an 8 pin pcie which is rated to supply 150 watts. For example in my farm I have mostly 7950 gpu's that have 1 8pin and 1 6pin pci. They get 150 watts + 75 watts which allows 225 from the PCIE connectors - then they can also pull another 75ish watts direct from the motherboard.

I guess I'm trying to understand how much wattage can safely be pulled from a 6 pin pcie if it is only rated for 75 watts.
