This match will be remembered because of Muhammad Nabi who helped his team in making a come back in the match. I saw the last over of Afghanistan innings and Muhammad Nabi hit five sixes on first five balls of 20th over. Sri Lanka faced no problem while chasing because Mendis didn't lose his wicket and remain on crease till his team won the match. Afghanistan gave a good target but it was there bowlers who were not able to win the game for them. Afghanistan now eliminated from Asia Cup but they fought hard in every match they played.
At one point, it really seemed that Afghanistan would be able to score 140 runs. But in the last over, Mohammad Nabi's batting prowess allowed Afghanistan to put up a good total. Nabi's 60 runs off 22 balls was really great. When Afghanistan set a target of 169 runs at the end of the innings, it seemed that Afghanistan would win today's match and they would enter the second round with Sri Lanka.
But later, when Sri Lanka came to bat, they batted smoothly from the start. When the game was 2.2 overs old, opener Pathum Nissanka was out, but Kusal Mendis was excellent at the other end. In the end, he left the field with 74 runs unbeaten, keeping one end in front, and winning the team. Today's match was more important for Bangladesh than Sri Lanka's own victory, because if Afghanistan had won this match, Bangladesh would have had to leave the group stage.
