We are going to continue to have newbies coming into bitcoin with the same kind of ideas, and they are not even acting in bad faith.. it is just that normies have certain ways of thinking and do not even know what they do not know.. and surely if many of us have been invested into bitcoin for a while, so we likely have made several of those similar kinds of mistakes, and sometimes we figure out ways to learn from our mistakes and other times we repeat the mistakes several times before we learn.  So maybe sometimes we will figure out how to manage our cashflow and back up funds in order that we do not end up panicking, and also we might realize that if we moderate the amount that we put into bitcoin, then we might not get as emotional about it.. so sometimes it might help to hold back some of the money for buying dips, so that we feel better to have some money when the dip comes.  There are little tricks that we learn, and we also might realize that our investment is 4-10 years or longer, but when we first come into the investment, we might have difficulties planning that far into the future and it seems like a long time, but then after we had been DCA investing for 4 years or more, we realize that the time passes fast, even though maybe we might have had been feeling tortured for our first 4 years investing into bitcoin as we were getting used to investing into it and getting used to following our cash management practices.


There have been quite a few short period of time that bitcoin has doubled or more than doubled in price in a short period of time.

Between April and June 2019, bitcoin went from $4,200 to to $13,880, and even between October 2023 and March 2024, bitcoin went from $26k to $73k... so bitcoin can go up a lot in a short period of time, even though I personally doubt that it is good to try to play those waves, there are some guys who might try to play those kinds of waves, and some of them might think that they can buy back cheaper, yet it may well might have had been better if the person had mostly bought a bunch of BTC at the lower prices to continue to hold the BTC and to continue to buy BTC, especially if his timeline is 4-10 years or longer... but yeah, guys are free to think differently and to see how they do when they trade rather than invest.

Personally, I will give the sort of advice that has given ME comfort and less stress in my Bitcoin investment journey. It would he hypocritical of me if I suggest that everyone DCA with 90% of their savings if what I actually did was Buy the Bitcoin DIPs with most of my savings during the bear market of 2019, no?

That's just the point bro, mostly newbies investors confuse trading for investment because they still has that mindset of making quick money, because of that they will sell off all their holdings for minimal gains and thinking to buy back when the price has dip, but that's not investing, that's trading because an investor will not sell off his holdings for minimal gains and secondly, he will never sell of his holdings especially when he is still in his accumulation stage, it's only traders that doesn't have a set time that they sell, they just sell once their is a sharp increase in price, and they are mostly the ones that still sell at a loss anytime the is a strong dip in the market because they feels like it's going to take a lot of time before the market recover, so that is one of the key reason why they are mostly nowhere near an investor in terms of ROI in the same timeframe like ten years or more.

Seems you're getting it right already, because the purpose for any investment made was to have that opportunity of building up our portfolio, which is why we should not take from the investment fund we have because such is our capital, the more it remains being invested the better it becomes for us, as we know already that bitcoin increases over time, despite its volatility, at the long run, we still stand a better chance of earning more form it as long as we can hodl.

I already gave you the parameters for the hypothetical, and all you need to do is say what the guy needs to do. .We do not need to agree, but you should say specifically what you are recommending.

To summarize/repeat from earlier, our hypothetical guy is in his mid-30s with a $30k income who has been investing $50 per week in bitcoin for 1 year ($2,700 invested with 0.03701 BTC (3.7 million satoshis)), and he wants to increase his DCA to $100 and he also has $10k that he wants to invest into bitcoin.  He also has $30k invested in other assets, which presumptively will become $20k if he moves $10k of that into bitcoin.  The question for you is what this guy should do?   You are giving no answer beyond vague bullshit?  Are you saying that he should wait until the next bear market?  Go on? Work with some facts that represent what actual people have to decide rather than spouting out vague and non-action bullshit that makes it seem that you don't have any ideas about what to do.. even though you are trying to act like you have some smart ideas. but they are just bullshit since we cannot go back to 2016 or to 2019..

A new investor of 1-2 years does not necessarily need to be more scared than the older investor of 3-4 years, even though part of the comfort of the older investor comes from having more chances of being in profits, yet there is no guarantee that the older investor will be in profits, and it could well end up being the case that the older investor is nervous too because the older investor maybe has invested 2x or more larger amounts into bitcoin over the additional time that he has been investing, yet the thing about time in an investment is that there are more possibilities that the investment will be in profits, yet the older investor still could become worried that when the BTC price is dropping severely, then he is losing all of the profits that he had and perhaps going back into the negative or close to going back into the negative based on the extent of the price drop.

Even in 2022 when the BTC price dropped to below $20k, there may well could have had been several investors who had just started investing in the past year or two (as the newbie investors) as compared to the ones who had been investing 3-4 years, and both classes of investors may well would have had gone into negative territories, but it could well have had been that the one who had invested longer, he may have had more money invested as compared with the one who was newer into investing in bitcoin.

I do think that the older investor has the advantage of having had more time to build up his cashflow management skills and/or even to build up his emergency funds and other back up funds... so having strengthened his cashflow management skills/practices can end up providing more comfort for the older investor... and yeah, if the newbie investor ends up panicking and selling, then such newbie investor may well end up both screwing up his investment momentum but also potentially never getting anywhere in terms of actually building up his bitcoin holdings when the dip periods end up being great times to just keep plugging away at his regular buying of bitcoin, rather than panicking into either selling and/or waiting when he should be ongoingly buying BTC, even if it is ONLY $100 per week or some smaller amount within his budget.


You are correcting 99oo00 for having a trading mindset, and you are spouting out trading advice, so in stead of talking about short term trading you are talking about long term trading and saying that you are "investing" when you are not.

Sure, an investor can measure the profits in his bitcoin holdings, yet he need not be preoccupied by the profits or the lack of profits or the changes in the profits. Instead the investor should be considering ongoingly building of his bitcoin holdings so that perhaps after 4-10 years or longer, then he will have had built his bitcoin holdings up to a certain size to give him more options.. and sure it is likely that the bitcoin holdings would get built from both money that is ongoingly put in, and also the bitcoin holding likely would have had appreciated in value during that 4-10 years or longer period of time, too.  So there is some correctness that the level of profits gives more options, yet I still doubt that it is a very healthy mindset to be ONLY considering the level of profits.. since it is also likely the case that an investor will spend a considerable amount of time ongoingly buying bitcoin at any price, especially in his earlier years of buying bitcoin, and then maybe after some time, he might slow down in his buying of bitcoin and then just let it sit.. so that maybe a large majority of his holdings will be 4-10 years or older by the time he might cross into territories where he might start to sell portions of it... and yeah of course,  guys are going to think about these matters differently, yet I doubt that investors are necessarily thinking in terms of maximizing returns since they may well have several different investments that they are also hedging against each other with potential desires to have some stability in their wealth building over time and increases in their options over time from where to spend value, too.

I think that saying that those that sold their holdings for minimal gains are greedy is not proper because to the best of my knowledge, life it's about interest, so everyone is greedy when it comes to what is of nteresting to them, so I think that the right thing to call those people that sold too early are traders, because they are just too impatient with their investment, they want to make money quick, that's why they sell off at any slight increase in the value of Bitcoin.
When talking about greediness, the real greedy investors are those that invested in shit coin even when they know how dangerous it is, those are the real greedy investors,  because their sense of judgement will always be clouded with greed due to 10x to 100x, those are the real greedy investors, not impatient traders that sold for minimal gains.

It’s obvious that most people who doesn’t have enough knowledge about investment mistake it for trading, most newbies are only interested in making a fast money that is why they get involved in trading and investing in other shitcoins to hold for a temporary gains, as soon as they see a return of investment they are like wow and are ready to make an immediate profit. But they are not aware of the benefits which comes with investing in bitcoin and building a stable portfolio and accumulate bitcoin until they get to over accumulation and then decide to sell little by little, some of the newbies who are into trading are also aware of the potential benefits of bitcoin but they choose trading because they are more interested in making fast money, and getting themselves into mess by trading there bitcoin when there is a profit. And loosing money in the process of trading.

With most of the friends that I have talked to, this is the kind of narrative and explanation that they always throw at me. They have to wait for bitcoin to double its price so that they can also have double their money.

I've said they're right but I get it when they're trying to win an argument over this thing because they're up for the altcoins.

I've explained to them that it's real with altcoins but they're more volatile than Bitcoin and they might not see that altcoin they are so optimistic with in the next bull run.

Personally, I've told them that investing in Bitcoin requires patience and treat it as their savings. Instead of saving in the bank and making the bank win, they should be the bank themselves and take that win. The limited of supply of Bitcoin wasn't hard to explain to them but I hope that they have realized that or even the newbies nowadays.

I agree that Bitcoin is a long term investment despite that I have saved some, I am continuing it and putting money where my mouth is trying to prove it because it works.
