Bitcoin is a legit currency. And what is more important is the fact that you don't have to ask someone "trusted" about whether you can save a value in bitcoin or use it as a medium of exchange. Bitcoin is a completely transparent currency and everything in the bitcoin network can be verified at a very low cost. So you don't have to trust someone out there, because you can run your own node and verify everything that comes into the network. You can verify that transactions occurring in the network are not spending the same coins twice. You can verify that the total supply and the rate of issuance are corresponding to what you are expecting from the bitcoin network. You can verify that bitcoin both has and sustain credible monetary characteristics and robust monetary policy. It is legit because its characteristics are guaranteed by the entire population of the planet Earth and not by a bunch of bureaucrats seeking ways to control your life.

I don't consider them illegal , in my country its neither legal nor illegal
but people consider it kind of legal because of the institutional investors now making BTC as a main asset .
but yes a major political figure or any major government say about the legality of BTC would be much better.

it depends on if bitcoin can bring goverment profit. if not, it might be legit. vice versa. maybe someday government will make people pay tax for the cryptocoins they hold.

For the longest run that bitcoin has existed, I think we cannot say anymore that it is not legitimate. There a lot of people who are currently investing on it right now and they have given their hopes high for it. Regardless if it's legit or not, those who are believing in it and those who believed ever since it started are probably enjoying all the wealth they have right now. Don't listen to hearsays about it, instead try and check it out yourself, do some research or try consulting those who have been in this game for so long and after, make your conclusion.

The question have a obvious answer, of course it's legit. After all of those occassion happened in bitcoin, we can truly say that bitcoin is very legitimate. Many people are already using and making money out of it. Idk why this kind of questions still exist after all of those things happened in the past year especially thr bull run in the year 2017.
