I find it very strange that probably more than 90% of VPN providers offer us terrible monthly prices but good discounts on annual subscriptions/
I don't find it only strange, but also annoying as fuck. I hate those cheap marketing tricks where you see 1 month sub for like $12, and then if you pay 24 months it suddenly drops to $3 per month. Like what the fuck.
On the other hand, Mullvad and Windscribe work perfectly fine with their cheap monthly prices, so I assume that this price model should also be profitable.
Of course it is, as long as you are offering quality services so people keep paying.
Annoying, yes. But definitely not strange.
It's a very common tatic to make you commit long term to their service. If they just charge $3 per month, many people will cancel after 2 or 3 months. If you offer a good price with a 1 year commitment, they get you into the service for that long = profit.
Obviously they still profit at $3/monthly, VPN costs are extremely low (you can "make" your own VPN with a $1/month VPS). That doesn't mean they won't do what they can to increase profit.
