Bitcoin is the most conservative investment among cryptocurrencies and should correspond to the largest portion of an investor's bankroll. Everything else (altcoins) is high risk gambling. Since the beginning of this industry we have been seeing Bitcoin performing on the top position of this market, while altcoins are constantly going upside and down each new cycle.

The only exception is Ethereum. Every other altcoins don't give you any realistic assurance to maintain their position on the following years. The point is that they promise high financial returns, which is something Bitcoin doesn't at the current stage it has reached. So investors go for the altcoins instead, expecting to make 100% or even 1000% profit by holding shitcoins, personified in the figure of memecoins which are quite popular right now.

It's ok to play with altcoins, though, since you respect your limits and don't compromise a large percentage of your funds on it.

As long as we talk about investment, in the end it will be the same where risk will always exist and do not feel that we are in bitcoin it will be safe from risk because in the end regardless of whether we are in bitcoin or altcoin the situation is still the same because we must know the risks that we must bear in the investments we make. It's just that in this case what distinguishes bitcoin and altcoin is a certainty where the risk when in bitcoin will be much smaller than we are in altcoin.

Of course this should be done and everyone should be aware of something like this because it would be ridiculous if they do (sacrifice) everything for the investment that we do.
Although investment is good, we must realize that in the end when we want to do it, we need a good strategy and planning which of course refers to the financial management that we have.
Do not let us be aggressive by risking everything just because we want to get a big profit because we need to think about the life we live today and not only focus on the future.
There are expenses that we have to think about for life now so don't push yourself too much because the concept of being in my version of bitcoin is that when we invest in bitcoin then we must also be prepared to lose which of course this will be difficult for us to accept when we risk everything for bitcoin even though it is profitable for the future but we cannot torture ourselves for the life we live now.

You wouldn't tell people not to put their money anywhere they want. Some of them are willing to take the risk of gaining big or losing big. Many investors are not patient enough to hodl Bitcoin for a long time, so they prefer to gamble with some shitcoins in a bid to get short term profit.

My advice to people, mostly newbies, is to invest only in Bitcoin because it has proved to be a reliable investment asset. Venturing into other coins should be done after studying the market and gaining the required knowledge. And if you want to diversify your crypto assets, consider buying only reputable altcoins.

People will still take that risk and invest in shitcoins instead of investing in bitcoin. When they hear about the 100x some shitcoins do within a short time, they’ll prefer jumping into that without even asking about the disadvantages of it. People wanting to make quick money is on the rampage now and social media have made it looks to some people that cryptocurrency is where quick money can be made. This particular idea have failed a lot of people and even people losing their lives after being scammed, rugged and lost their money into those shitcoins they expect to make them rich overnight.


Bitcoin accumulation is not an easy task to come by with, some people will still prefer to invest some of their money into shitcoins, like risking what they can afford to lose just to maybe compensate their bitcoin purchase through DCA. Every risk has their repercussions and when some people are able to realize those repercussions and can get away with it, they don’t mind trying to diversify their portfolio into also altcoins. It is risky and will always be risky unlike bitcoin that’s less risky to invest in as far as you can hodl and won’t panic to sell.

Exactly there is freedom to anything that everyone wants to use their money for, but this advices are usually just ditch out to actually help people or potential investors who care to know that they are gambling with their money rather than doing anything close to investing. The one key thing I hold that aligns my believe with that of OP is that no matter how strong an Altcoins looks it will definitely have to follow the market trend of bitcoin. There is usually advice that one should actually do more research before investing, yes it is a very good factor in this space and most of the findings is that top rated coins most especially the top 10 are more of a solid coins that Carries lesser risk compared to other Altcoins. There is no denying this but when it comes to investing I don’t actually advice a portfolio diversification to be into this Altcoins rather to be to another different asset entirely from cryptocurrency since bitcoin controls The other Altcoins too it is not a good way to diversify with something that is influenced by one another

Some believe that, Bitcoin investment is too old fashioned for them and Bitcoin being labeled as an expensive investment and for those that want a quick return, altcoins becomes  the best choice for them at that point and as long as they own they money they can buy anything short that fit into their budget and allow the risk and luck to take control, such kind of investors will never listen to any form of advice as to hold more Bitcoin because of Bitcoin less volitilities and stabilities in Price movement, which are features that are not available to shitcoins,, we have different cryptocurrencies and investors need to understand this, we have some cryptos that are just for speculations, while we have some others that have long term potentials such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and the rest of the notable coins, but we have shitcoins this one are more or less scammers, their confuse newbies investors putting down their money and in the end, they get scammed and left with just unrealistic promises.

I am also not against investing in altcoins because obviously if we have knowledge we will be able to find great opportunities there. People often say that investing in Altcoins is like gambling, but I don't see anyone complaining when they gamble every day, but criticizing those who invest in Altcoins   .

Invest only a small portion in altcoins and make sure it is an amount we can afford to lose just like the amount we gamble. Our crypto portfolio, bitcoin should be 80% or more, I think we'll be fine.
Also, bitcoin is safer and has more potential but it will all depend on our strategy and planning. Bitcoin is not a potential investment if we invest with borrowed money or use money that we cannot afford to lose.

For me you have a valid point because generally speaking, investing in altcoins is very risky because they are volatile and speculative in nature in most industries. One needs to do deep research before stepping into such properties. The use value of Bitcoin, both as a store of value and medium of exchange, has been extremely stable, and its long-term growth potential substantial. Other techniques, such as DCA, may help in mitigating the risk associated and aid in building a long-term sustainable investment. You should not be risking your entire wealth in some aggressive investments; therefore, the right balance in your portfolio is necessary.

I agree with you that bitcoin is the safest in the crypto market. But for me, I don't like being conservative and opinionated so I have no problem investing in altcoins. As long as we know what we are doing and are brave enough to take responsibility for our decisions, we can invest anywhere we think has potential.

Although it cannot be denied that the altcoin market is full of scams, we also need to admit that there are also many altcoins that have also brought huge profits to many people. ETH, BNB, SOL...and many alts have also brought early investors thousands and millions of percent profits not inferior to bitcoin. We should not deny those things.
Most altcoins are junk and risky but not all, there are still many altcoins that are generating profits that anyone craves. Of course, I'm only talking about profits, but in terms of technology or use cases, we just need bitcoin.

Average people might disagree though, due to volatility on Bitcoin price and transaction fee. But otherwise, i agree since altcoin usually have worse volatility.
