We have to learn not to regret things, though. By that logic, even people who sold when the price was $100k will regret it someday. I don't see anything wrong in selling your bitcoin at any point you want to; what you shouldn't do, in my opinion, is sell it out of panic. Some people see the price of bitcoin going down, and then they panic. If you sell your bitcoin, it should be because you planned on selling it at a certain price or after a certain amount of profit.
The good thing is, we always have an opportunity to buy again. Not buying it again is something to regret. He could have still bought when the price was $8, $10, $20, $50, or even $10k. He had a lot more opportunities to buy, so there is no point regretting over what you can't change.
Hmm, panic selling and having a predefined exit plan are two completely different thing.
Actually, everyone should know why they are selling. If someone sell BTC to cover his real-life expense then there should not be any problem. But if someone panic and dumps BTC after the price drops by 20% because they suddenly think Bitcoin is dead then its a completely different story
Another thing is that ''I can always buy again'' type talk is valueless, in reality it is not that easy. If someone sells at $60k with expectation that they will buy again at $40k, but Bitcoin goes to $80k then they may have to wait for that lower price and eventually will not be able to buy back. This has happened to me a few times.
So IMO, it is much more important to have a plan before volatility comes. There is no point in trying to make a perfect top or bottom call.
