Thats why I believe that such a discussion doesnt have any practical significance, because no one will ever be able to guess the keys to a Bitcoin wallet. Especially not to one that contains a very large amount of money. And even if that were to happen - although, of course, thats impossible - the person shouldnt own those bitcoins, because someone else has already earned them before. And that means theyd be taking someone elses property. Youre right in pointing out that legally, they also wouldnt be able to prove to the law that they earned those coins through any honest means.
It's impossible.
Impossible in a first type of attempt to generate all Bitcoin private keys, and check related Bitcoin addresses for finding wallets with balance and steal those coins.
Impossible in a second type of attempt to brute force a Bitcoin private key, to go backwards from Bitcoin address to Bitcoin private key and steal coins. From a Bitcoin address, it's easily to filter addresses to find ones that have bitcoins but again brute forcing is impossible.
With Bitcoin users, the importance for their practice is do all things right: choose wallets, create wallets, back up wallets, test backups, and secure storage of all these things. They also need to maintain good habit online and offline, stay humble to avoid hacks and physical attacks. If they can do so, their bitcoins will be safe.
