We all know the story of the pizza, not doing to delve deeper here..
After the whole debate about how and what and whom paid for it on another topic, since obviously no pizza place was accepting Bitcoin for payments, I started wondering: it's been 16 years now, have things really changed and how much so let's run a survey on how the economy has evolved:
Questions, none mandatory, but keep the useless quota spam away:
- Can you buy a pizza with BTC and have it delivered to your house?
- Where you live (country, city, whatever you are comfortable sharing) and praise the Pizzeria that accepts BTC let's do some free advertising for them!
- Have you actually ever bought a pizza with BTC ?
Note: When I say with BTC, it means with BTC, no debit card funded with BTC, no prepaid card bought with BTC
I feel like opportunities to use Bitcoin as a daily means of payment were at a peak approximately 5 - 7 years ago and have declined since then.
Seems like Bitcoin has turned towards a hedge vs. fiat and general store-of-value system, away from its initial idea of a peer to peer payment system.
Not saying this could change again, also technically Bitcoin can be easily used for payment solution implementations these days. It's just not something I see happening a lot currently.
- A while ago we could use some delivery service and pay directly with BTC. This option is currently no longer available
- I haven't really been on the lookout for any of these opportunities but right now in EU where I live it seems to be a rare exception.
- Yes, like I said it was easy several years ago.
