My thoughts exactly it will be a very big red flag for me to be convinced about a certain Payment method in just that short time and I’ll agree to accept for selling my product most especially if I have no knowledge about it at prior to the purchase or from even a total stranger. This lady in question has really trusted him to some certain extent which I don’t think I would have been able to if it was me.

You raised a point though about why would a shop state they accept bitcoin payments and don’t know how to even use it for transactions. This is questionable, and even making the whole story look cooked and illogical. even though from OP’s post, I can’t see where he said the shop stated they deal with bitcoin payment prior to his purchase.

I doubt this is a true story, but it is giving you the benefit of the doubt. I am wondering why you have determined you will buy goods through Bitcoin payments when the shopkeeper isn’t aware of Bitcoin. And wondering how a random person trusts you since he isn’t aware of Bitcoin and how it works.

I have used Bitcoin as well, but for online purchases. I haven’t used Bitcoin payments for real-life shops since Bitcoin isn’t legal in my country. It seems you spent a lot of time explaining to her about the Bitcoin payment, but this isn’t enough to explain Bitcoin to a brand-new user. Make sure she has understood at least the basic things about Bitcoin and Bitcoin payments.

This story is fabricated and I'm not sure if it's true. If OP is close to the person perhaps they have been a close friend and has been buying things there before, I will say it's easy to convince friends to try something they have not use before. You can't out of no where tell somebody to accept something they don't plan to have, even if the person knows about Bitcoin before, he will still want to have his money because that's his business money we are talking about.

If this is a centralized exchange deposit and it involves Bitcoin, I will be convince that what he said is true since the transaction will be an internal one, there will not be charges for fees, there will be no waste of time in transaction. From there, he can use a p2p. From his description, none of them looks familiar to be realistic.

That doesn't excuse you from making up stories that don't fit the actual reality in any way. The seller did not have a Bitcoin wallet? But, yes, you taught him. Are you serious? Is there an invasion of storytellers on the forum again? If the store accepts payment in bitcoins, then there will definitely be a competent person at the checkout who knows how sales are carried out. You made up a story, OP, and we can all guess why. There's no such invasion, but it's proven to be another effective way to earn what OP needs to earn. So, aside from compilations, tutorials, reminders, realizations, and whatnot, there's also sharing of real-life stories and experiences. OP has made dozens so far after a year since he/she signed up.

I agree that these are the lessons of the hypothetical story. When sending bitcoin, we need to be sure of the wallet address and being security cautious with your seed phrase.

However, your story has some questioning on it. If someone doesn't have bitcoin as mode of payment, it means they are not accepting it and maybe they don't understand it. So how would you convince a business person who has already made out portals of payment to change their mind at the point of receiving payment? A typical business person will tell you to conclude the business first by making payment to the assigned payment portal and afterwards, they may or may not listen to your new payment innovation. But you did a great work to convince the person and successfully made payment through it while she was patient with you.

I'm curious about the fact that for the first time you are about to make payments in this shop, you requested to pay with bitcoin despite the fact that the owner of the shop does not receive payment in Bitcoin, we all know that bitcoin takes a lot of time for you to understand the techniques when it involves sending and receiving it, it is not something you do at once for a beginner or somebody that does not have a bitcoin knowledge.

 however if you also consider the fact that the person would have to learn other aspects of crypto activities in a bit to convert her bitcoin to either usdt or any other cryptocurrency which I believe you didn't teach her at that moment too.

my point is that, it was too hasty for you to suddenly send her Bitcoin in such a short notice of you guys knowing each other, at least including something you would have told that previously then you came that day to engage her on it.

Alright, i will try to believe it a bit , even though you never thought that she will have to restock and the money will have to be exchanged back to fiat.. which made it somewhat useless to me even if you did pay in BTC.

There’s difference between paying in BTC to someone that’s list it as a payment method and someone who has zero idea of what Bitcoin is all bout..talk more of setting up a wallet to accept payment or withdraw [I guess that non of your business right  ]

Hence, it’s strange that you just wake up and decide to pick a random store to get your electronics without doing any research if they accept such payment in a Country like Nigeria  

Your experience shared do far scares me I mean I'm thinking how to convince someone who practically knows nothing about Bitcoin to receive Bitcoin as a means of payment when she has no knowledge of Bitcoin and you already have purchased all you can to buy before mentioning that you would probably pay with Bitcoin, in my opinion I think you should first ask about if Bitcoin is part of there listed means of payment before you even start shopping although that depends on the area where you are because there are certain areas that people really don't know anything about Bitcoin and might not even be interested in paying attention to it the way she did so in that scenero it will be difficult to  make payments without first having to argue.
Personally I'm looking forward to spending my Bitcoin to purchase something for the first time.

Many people have been introduced to Bitcoin this way, new time merchants, people at bars to accept money for the tab and places like that. We should not try to assume that the world only functions according to our own experience, so if something seems unusual to us that it can't or does not happen. It is always a beautiful story when a small merchant gets adopted to Bitcoin, even if this particular story does not have to be true. The issue of lack of knowledge is huge, because if people knew that it poses to problem to them to adopt Bitcoin they would. A small merchant can expect at most a couple of Bitcoin sales per month depending on where they live unless it is a high adoption area. Even if Bitcoin would crash to 0% it poses no real risk to their business as it would represent a tiny percent of their revenue. But unfortunately many don't know this and don't accept it.
