I can't see Fluffypony's posts here for a quite long time. Each monent I ask, somebody gives me a proof links to github, that Monero developing is being undergone significant progress. Many people report they have built Monero with new mmap database and it works quite fine...

But...

It is still beta, I mean new Monero 0.9. When it will be released officially? If it is almost ready, what's the "tiny" problem that lasts for several months?

Good target for work. I want Fluffypony to post here his estimation on date for officilal Monero 0.9 release, and the procedure how to do hard fork mentioned above.
That's because I am working on some service depending on Monero and I defenitelly can't use current 0.8.8.6 version due to its huge virtual memory eating...

You can clone a newer version from github. I cloned it a few weeks ago (I believe my version is 0.8.8.7-release) and it's very easy on RAM. It's worked flawlessly for me.

I found this interesting.  In a released paper, the NSA was interested in anonymous electronic cash as early as 1996, back when the Internet first began to explode as a consumer tool.

They explicitly define electronic cash as needing to be untraceable, because a cash-to-cash transaction is inherently untraceable. 
 
In this paper they make reference to "the bank" several times as the one who verifies all transactions because at the time it was either unknown or unreleased how to successfully create a system where a trusted third party wouldn't be necessary. 
 
To this end, I think their dream has finally been realized as of 2014.  Monero is, in fact, the first true electronic cash.  Bitcoin may have been revolutionary, but it was not "electronic cash" due to its public ledger. 
 
It makes much more sense to refer to Bitcoin as the first trustless electronic ledger, and Monero as the first trustless electronic cash.  In fact, as we go forward I think this is something we should highlight and make reference to.  A bold product needs bold (and accurate) claims, and I think that's what we have here.

FortuneJack is accepting Monero. Have you ever tried this site? I don't know about their XMR volume in the site, comparing other coins, but I suppose it must be 5th coin after BTC, LTC, DOGE and DASH.
