The main reason why mature investors are sick of the altcoin side of BTCtalk is because its one of the shittiest, most toxic, ass-backwards, greedy, immature, scumbag-filled collection of trash on the clearnet. You could probably find more honest people on a necro site on the darknet than coming to bitcointalk. The BTCtalk mods had a great opp here to foster the growth and development of alternative currencies, but their bitcoin tunnel vision and neglect for altcoins has driven this place into the ground. It's now a cesspool for clone factories, coinscams, FUDpackers and code plagiarism. It's the 9gag of the crypto world..

That being said, there are still a few real projects here amidst the filth that are worth investing in like Shadow.

The Bitcoin team could change the coin parameters to make it faster, if there is enough support from the community. The problem is the community is so big, that it's hard to make drastic changes to the code base. It's definitely far from being mainstream and there is still room for a competing currency to have a major impact on the market. We're still in the very early stages of crypto adoption, so anything can change.

I dont think you'll be dissapointed with what is coming out.
