By all means, keep the thread unlocked. The discussion we had about this a few weeks back is still relevant. Can't hurt to leave the door open for local newcomers. However, I do think the links to the daily updates are not required here - as long as the first post of the thread has an explanation of where we've all gone and how to get in touch with us. All it needs is a line at the top of the existing post that says:
