Saw a picture the other day "showing" clouds moving behind the sun which someone claimed as proof of a flat earth.

Yet funny thing is even the majority of flat earth believers will confirm that they still believe the moon is smaller then the sun but the moon is closer. So clouds should move behind that too right?. So why is it that they're always in front?.

The zoom only "pushes" the horizon (convergence line) away beyond the limits of our unaided vision. Even with the zoom there is still a horizon and the distant ship is now just slightly beyond the zoomed horizon. Hence the bottom of the ship obscured. If you had a more powerful zoom or telescope you would see more of the bottom of the ship. In any case, the fact you zoomed in over what appears to be a large distance, proves the flat earth. If the earth truly was a sphere then the zoom would'nt have seen anything.

How as an individual can I know if the Earth is a sphere or a flat disc? What experiment can I do that doesn't involve trusting information from a 3rd party that would prove what the geometry really is?
