Have you ever created a passphrase seed to claim your IOTA? If so, and if you have not stored the passphrase seed, you will not be able to get access to your IOTA.

If you have not created a passphrase yet, then just use a secure password generator locally on a clean machine. Ideally, create a password with exact 81 characters and store it on a save place. Then nobody should be able to stole your IOTA.

Bandwidth consumption with PD is not sustainable for most users. Another option is to keep PD and configure a limit for inbound/outbound peers but I don't know if this is a viable solution.

Snapshotting. In my understanding old .iri files can be deleted to keep the size of the locally observed tangle somewhat manageable. With PD this is not possible, the size of the files have to grow to infinity, though my knowledge on this particular issue is extremely limited
