Westbrook used to be a very good basketball player, everyone admits that.
Some players are good in one team but bad in another. Westbrook was a triple-double machine back in OKC but that was before he had the freedom to do what he wanted, not to mention his stat padding. You can really see a players skill if they can still excel regardless of the team they play for, like LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard. Since Westbrook moved teams, his production has gradually decreased, which has also lowered his value, leading to a smaller contract with the Clippers last season.
It's because Westbrook was the alpha dog of that team that time. When KD left, he become the leader, that's why he won the MVP and becoming a triple double that he is even breaking the record of Oscar Robertson. But after leaving OKC, it started his decline, he is still a threat with the Wizards though, but it did sure shows the wear and tear in his body and then becoming injury prone.
I think Westbrook is just looking for a championship because thats the only thing missing in his career. Hes already a Hall of Famer, but it would be better if he also wins a championship. So, Id say hes in the right team now because the Nuggets are championship contenders.
Him, CP3 and others who are in the brink of retirement but still wanting to go and willing to be part of a good team just to got that one thing that alluded them. So he is still a good chance to that, when he joins the former NBA champion in Denver Nuggets.
