I don't like what Barcelona treats their players, from Xavi, Iniesta, David Villa, Suarez to Messi but I agree what Laporta said. The club is more important than any player who comes and goes.
Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, and David Villa were all treated and respected well by the club, though do not let the media play games with your head; they will make you believe whatever they want you to believe. None of the players mentioned were kicked out of the club; they had a successful career at Barcelona and decided to try new challenges elsewhere before retirement, with the exception of Messi, who was ready to retire at Barcelona before the start of the season.
Messi era has to end, if not this season, it would be next 2, 3, 4 or 5 seasons. Other players will replace the key player position of Messi. Barcelona will move onwards with new players. The leave of Messi brings more opportunities to Pedri and Ansu Fati as well as Griezman or Coutinho.
None of those players are capable of carrying a team to triumph in the same way that Messi did, and there are certain players who leave a hole that lasts decades. Well, you didn't include the key person Depay in your statement, thus Ansu Fati is the only player I trust to make an impact.
Same for PSG. If Mbappe leaves, they will have other players come and some of them will successfully replace Mbappe.
He is a replaceable player
Just as when Ronaldo left Real Madrid - "No player is larger than the club", then it all went to shit lol.
The expression is simply a way of saying "we're screwed " in some transfer scenarios. Atletico Madrid will now dominate the league, with Real Madrid and Barcelona becoming laughingstocks.
