Anyway, I don't think too many ordinary American/Canadian/French/British etc.. citizens stopped doing anything while we caused similar (way more) sufferings in Iraq. Remember how we were told by our democratically elected officials that UN Security Council Resolution 688 No Fly Zones were put in place to protect humanitarian operations in Iraq? Remember how that turned out to be a lie and they were really just bombing the shit out of Iraq to pave the way for a ground invasion? Oh yeah and the assertion that Iraq was still producing and stockpiling WMDs as the pretext for that ground assault? That was a lie too. How many innocents died from lack of food, water and needed medical supplies during that fiasco? More importantly, how many of us Ameropeans stopped shopping during that entire period in protest? We were similarly deceived over Libya. It was always about regime change but that's not what we were lead to believe by our free presses. If we're lucky, the truth comes out eventually in dribs and drabs.
Somehow we like to think we're different than the Russian people though. Maybe we think we're more savvy and less naïve; how could they allow themselves to be so easily deceived? Those Russian bastards shouldn't be out "shopping"! They should be protesting their government's actions! Why don't they stop Putin?!
