Remembering what ETH did, I jumped on this seeing what could potentially happen. To exceed ETH like it did in a day something big has to be driving that. 39000BTC volume is a freakishly high amount of volume.

Under attack how precisely? Genuine question, since I read somewhere (cannot exactly recall where added source) that DASH miners are actively censoring DarkSend transactions and thereby slowing them down significantly. Your notion could be related.
