I'll be keeping a close eye in this... Imagine a world in which the government controls all your internet traffic through ISPs (I know it's already here in some places)... People would look for a way to get their information freedom back and if getting it back was as simple as installing an app, everybody would do it. People would even purchase a phone simply dedicated to service the meshnet, so they can use their phones as usual. The dedicated phone will be plugged into the mains and would act as a wifi hotspot for other devices. Phone sales would go up but ISP users would plummet and ISPs go out of business. With VISP ISPs are not longer needed. The governments turn to the mobile operators to integrate the control features. But the mobile operators saw what happened to the ISPs and so fight the government.

In the end the more the restrict us the greater we will adapt to regain our freedom.

Glad to, given I'm one of the people running it

DR is very simply a gateway between a few chain based currencies (BTC, LTC, NMC, TRC and now DRK) and both Ripple and Stellar. Basically you can deposit any of the chain based currencies and have an IOU issued to you on either Ripple or Stellar, where you can send to others or use the ledger trading facilities.
When you hold DR IOUs you can also redeem them, thus receiving the chain based currency.

The name is a bit confusing as the original business model for DR was quite different, to be able to pay dividends using ripple with chain currencies (kind of stock profit distribution on steroids) but that never picked up, and the main business was just using it as a gateway, which is the only thing it is now.
