As you all know by now, I think it was a material mistake not to properly acquire Dashcoin. I won't rehash my reasoning but will offer the following proposal as I still own enough Dark where I am concerned about the ramifications of the move:
1. If Darkcoin decides to properly acquire Dashcoin, I will donate my nearly 9 billion Dashcoin to the Darkcoin foundation, free of charge.
2. While obviously it's only my word, I give my word that I don't own more than that and will not buy more. I, and nobody I have any material relationship will (that I know of) profit from the transaction.
I'll leave this offer on the table for 72 hours from the time of this post.
Eh ? Why ?
Dashcoin =/= Dash/darkcoin
Keep your coin and try to found a new dev now.
I've already discussed my reasoning in this thread. To quickly rehash:
1. IF and I do say IF Darkcoin does indeed win the rights to the Dashcoin trademark merely by acquiring github, Darkcoin will very likely be forced to enforce its trademark upon Dashcoin to avoid confusion. Having a DASH cryptocurrency and a Dashcoin cryptocurrency will create far too much confusion as has already been seen in this thread. As such, there's a very real chance that this maneuver is in fact killing Dashcoin.
2. There is a very ugly precedent being set here in a variety of ways. How would all of you feel is some company or government agency with deep pockets came in, bought out Evan and the rights to Github, and took the name of the coin without compensating all of you?
3. There is some uncertainty about whether simply acquiring the repo and domain names will in fact give Darkcoin ownership of the Dashcoin trademark to use against the other company as planned.
4. This situation creates additional fodder for trolls.
There are other reasons, but those are the big ones. With a rebranding so close and so important, me losing my investment in Dashcoin is nothing compared to the risk I am feeling from this uncertain situation.
