On the other hand though, if this will happen then more opportunities for other players. They don't need to wait longer just to have spots in the teams that we have right now but they will have more teams to choose with. What are the chances that this will happen? I don't know because if the PBA really wanted to expand and add more teams then they should've done it long time ago already but they aren't doing it until now.
That's right, and the salary will be more competitive as well as the competition is getting tougher. Actually, we have a lot of talented basketball players but only few of them are given the opportunity due to the limited number of big leagues, with the increasing popularity of MPBL, that gives them a good chance.
The basketball league is a business, MPBL players will only get more players if they are making good money from sponsors and from the live audience. So they need to be more popular and get good coverage in our favorite channels. Maybe a live stream on youtube and Facebook too, that would help increase their popularity.
They will also hit the mainstream soon and become the second big professional league, this is indeed a side business for those companies and they earn a lot for sure on the previous conferences, MPBL need a good exposure and hopefully to give more talented Pinoy a chance to play. Basketball is growing in our country even if theres a pandemic, it is still living on a good position.
In fact, we've seen some old PBA players joining the MPBL like Cardona, Hubalde and Pingris I think (correct me).
It is only a matter of time that MPBL will be joining the mainstream and will be one of the leagues that we will be watching on television aside from the PBA. It will become more popular after this pandemic when everything is ok already like watching in basketball games with no restrictions etc. If PBA will not consider adding more teams in the future, there might be a chance that some talented players will rather join the MPBL than PBA.
Marc Pingris is supposed to join the MPBL as one of the team owners but since it's a conflict of business and as a respect for the Magnolia franchise, he opted out. Same with Peter June Simon.
Actually, MPBL is already mainstream but here in the thread, only a few know about it. Here in our place, MPBL is popular since players that were signed up by those teams are actually popular on their respective places, top inter barangay at most.
If PBA will not consider adding more teams in the future, there might be a chance that some talented players will rather join the MPBL than PBA.
That's impossible to happen. PBA still offers the best of the best offers. Teams in MPBL can't offer the same way PBA teams can offer.
Talented players will always target PBA. To those unsuccessfully drafted will goes to MPBL and will do their best there to be scouted by PBA teams.
