Supply can still be changed.
The goal of the PRE-ANN is to hear the community and make changes if needed before the release.

Thanks for the reply bud........not yet familiar with Counterparty but have heard about it. Sounds interesting. Will keep an eye out......I LOVE it when I see a dev release a coin from their real accounts:-)

I would normally agree with this being too large a supply, but not sure this is the case with social currency. I am no expert but for some reason it makes sense to have a larger supply of coins for a social currency.

Right now the Gems protocol is built to reward Gems users that introduce new users to the Gems network and also reward users for texting (not reward spamming - the technical details will be published before the release).

does anyone think the Gems protocol should reward more things? - Would love to get some feedback on this important point.

Co-op with Counterparty protocol is a great idea!

I have a few questions:

1. How does the messaging work. Is this a normal server based msg system, but the monetizing done via the token? Or is this an actual decentralized messaging system? How do you achieve 10sec response time.

2. The monetisation: i understand that normal msging is free. How is this done and paid for? The only monetisation comes via people sending others msg that they pay for by giving tokens to the receiver or by paying tokens to who?

3. Who own the network, system company etc? How does the economy work and how are developers paid.

Oh and with all that said: this looks fantastic!!!!!

Oh and I agree the 10B is a number that is way to high. We should reach a number where 1 token actually means something.

If I think about games we often have tokens that are worth a cent or a bit less. I.e. you might buy 2000 gems in a game for $10. Its so annoying in the BTC world to have these things that mean nothing and are not worth anything. You could also think about how much should the cheapest add be worth and make that 1 token. Either way I would suggest to have a lot less tokes but have a backup plan to be able to deal with growth.

I.e. satoshi managed to come up with a great number: 21 million would mean that 1 BTC would be worth a few USD even with very little market cap of only a few millions, but if BTC becomes the world currency 1 satoshi will be worth far less than 1 USD. The numbers work no matter what.

How the funds raised will be used:

- Further development of the IOS and Android Gems apps (extra features will be voted by the community).
