[ANN] is well written and seems serious, but one unanswered question:
Ultimately, where are you guys going with this? What's DCR's end goal?
Stupid question which asked at each altcoin again.
The ultimate goal is dependent on developments and support of the community
and global acceptance. Each year there goal will be adjusted.
Their primary goal has already been achieved...create an alternative Bitcoin with a stable network and price.
Just stop.
I imagine that this project means very different things for different people, and whatever can be said about this is mostly matter of personal opinion. My 2 cents:
- it establishes a sustainable development funding model, as opposed to various notable examples where this has failed greatly and development is either at risk, or heavily influenced by a small number of individuals towards their personal interests.
- it establishes the foundations for a widely distributed governance model, whereby voting will allow holders to voice their opinions in a public/open democratic stage.
- implemented a critical advancement of the consensus process, with a truly hybrid approach to block validation, effectively integrating both holders and miners in a unified layer of consensus, as opposed to the mixed/alternating PoW/PoS currencies (the closest meaningful reference).
- the stewards of the project have proven themselves over and again, before and after Decred launched, and they have continued to deliver, clearly keeping the fundamentals as the first and foremost priority (see development dispatches for a multitude of references).
End goal: World domination, why of course!
