why did dcr go up any news?

Combination of factors probably. Bitcoin price went down and the money made from the eth wars is being pumped into various alts.  Time will tell whether genuine interest in the coin holds, so far that hasn't been the case.

That probably isn't going to happen because there aren't any huge whales left in DCR to start dumping those kinds of amounts.  They all got out a long time ago when the price was around 600k.  LISK was being traded in large volumes whereas DCR wasn't.  DCR has hit the bottom already at around 250k, the only way for it to go now is upward as the updates keep coming.
