The reason I think strategies not based on luck fail (for 135) is because currently feasible algos are probabilistic, so you literally have a 20% chance of not finding the key even for 3*sqrt(n). Noone would invest in gpus for that, so the only thing left is luck. And if you were to utilize a relatively powerful system like a dozen T4s its still vastly underpowered but still uncomfortable to run, so you'll probably stop and give up after a year realizing you would have made more money renting the gpus. So the only thing left is a machine you can run endlessly without worrying about it and hope you get lucky.

Yes but purpose of the puzzles is to serve as an indicator for advancements in dlecp solving tech, they are not created for our enjoyment. Quantum will break them at some point if they remain in their current state and the hardness of the solved puzzles quantifies the current ability.
