For the same reason it's a lot used in scams, it's probably used in weapons traffics and or prostituion/drugs.

Just because it's an easy way to transfer value anonimously.

I don't think BTC could ever match the US $ at that game. I remember reading once that 50% of all $20 bills have been used to take cocaine!

Besides, BTC's total market cap is only $6 billions. The money spent on drugs each single day is more than that.

Yep, bitcoin is definitely used for illegal activities.  But as Lauda and others have pointed out, cash has been used for these same purposes for centuries.  Every dollar and cent in your pocket has probably been used to buy drugs or weapons and everything else at some point, so this is not an issue that really should affect bitcoin. 

I say should, because the press thinks it's got the scoop of the century by reporting shit like this.

It likely is, but so is almost every other country, I highly doubt the majority of Bitcoin transactions are due to illegal activities.

Yes it is.... One of the main uses for BTC at the moment is obviously for buying drugs.

I think the biggest use for it is gambling and trading but the fact is we need to accept that btc is here to stay and what gave it its foot hold was the darknet. Good or bad it has helped it get where it is today. I am only here because of a documentary that was basically saying how bad it was because people was buying illegal things with it. So what? The world is not a hunky dory place and the little impact btc has on illegal is almost funny. Its tiny in the schemes of things isnt it?

But I think if they use it that we do not know or they are already arrested.

This is normal. And it will not hurt it. Actually I believe it helps Bitcoin on the long run.

The fact you hear about this in news, this helps. Because it's advertising. Because more people will hear about Bitcoin and more people will think it may help them in legal or illegal activities, more people will "give it a shot".
The aim of Bitcoin is to become a coin, i.e. be used by as many people as possible. (And secondarily, this will boost Bitcoin price too.)
