Yes it is, actually some stores in the US are now accepting bitcoins as a mode of payment and that is pretty easy to used because you are just going to scan their code and swipe on your mobile device. So that means it is really a currency but not that official yet because those stores are an independent stores. But we know that in the near future other establishment will start accepting bitcoins as a payment because it is a real money but virtualy. People are getting crazy because of the bitcoins price.
