It's still not too late to buy bitcoin because bitcoin is still not that known so if in time there is a mass adoption then the bitcoin price will continue to increase because of the demand. Its price is already at $4,000+ now and maybe it will go down for a while for a correction but after that it will continue to rise again. The big whales are coming in shifting some of their wealth from precious metals to bitcoin since price of bitcoin is thrice the price of an ounce of gold nowadays so demand is increasing thus increase in price as well.

I agree with you concern have the fiat to buy the bitcoin incase the price but I don't think the price will drop at this moment because the price surge due to the SegWit2x and I don't see the price dropping any time soon.
