I am sure that stake has always been filled with whales. I mean consider how there were over 4.5k+ people who wagered more than 40k, not to even talk about how they had millions and millions of dollars from so many people at the top. I get that they were giving out 1 million dollars as prize pool, that is understandable and that's why people wagered, but even with 1% house edge average, they probably made a profit from that, they could have 1 million dollar worth race every single month because they would be making a profit.

Only 100 million dollars required for 1% to be 1 million dollars and they probably got that much at least, probably even more. It is only matter of time before we see another race like that, they will want to do it considering the profit possibility for them, plus it is great marketing for them as well while making some money with it.
