In recent times I would say the best player in the Indian team is Hardik Pandya. If there was one more player like him in the Indian team, then India would have been able to win the World Cup this year. Most importantly, the newcomers should be given a chance in the T20 format and it would seem appropriate if the senior player could compete in ODIs and Tate cricket.
Hardik Pandya definitely improved a lot recently and I do see sparks of MSD in him, but he wasn't the best player in the team during the T-20 World Cup. Sky was easily the best one among them all.
Why? Because he was dominating the competition from ball 1 immediately putting pressure on the bowlers while maintaining an above average strike rate.
Hardik Pandya is an amazing player. His performance in the World Cup was also excellent. We have seen Pandya's dominance in every Indian match. Pandya has been able to perform well in both cases. In the future we may see Hardik Pandya as the captain of the Indian team. Because we don't get better performances from KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in World Cup. There was no consistency in India's performance due to the poor performance of the opening pair. Pandya is likely to be seen as the captain in India's upcoming series against New Zealand. And personally I want to see Pandya as captain of India.
Hardik Pandya has played great in this World Cup. But I can't agree with you that Hardik Pandya will be the captain just because he played well in World Cup. There are many better players than Hardik Pandya in India team. But if Hardik Pandya can perform well. May be a captain in the future.
Which player do you think is better than Hardik Pandya? Rohit Sharma was undoubtedly better than Pandya. But his performance in the recent series has been bad. Also, his captaincy is questionable. He also took several wrong decisions in important matches of the World Cup. Secondly, Kohli played the role of captain, but it proved that he is not a good enough captain. KL Rahul is a good enough player. But if the opener does not perform well consistently, it will be difficult for him to stay in the squad. So he cannot be a captain. You know every player select in nation squad is better because he face alot of difficulties he work too hard to select in nation squad and he proved him that why he selected, but captaincy has another level of pressure because you will perform well and you will be responsible for every mistakes and every loss.
Under the capacity of virat Kohli Rohit perform really really well because at that time he has is free of captaincy pressure but when he become captain his performance become poor and poor , no doubt he is best player in every format so I think if you put the pressure of captaincy on hardik may be his performance become bad too. So the only solution is to make the virat captain again.
