You are right about that, it is not the initial goal of btc100, although it is indeed a good cause.
I sent more Bitcoins than were used, so you may use some/all of mine for the documentory. You have a better overview on the funds though, your (Rassah/Bruno) decision.

Although the off-topic post from a newbie (sorry Jr. member) was correctly called out by edd I think that the problem wrt donations going to charity or to other things such as documentary films needs to be nipped in the bud.

Rather than argue about the merits one way or the other about such things what I think should be done is fairly simple - create separate donation addresses for each "target" and forget the Bitcoin1oo vanity address (I would be much happier to donate in the future if I know what it is that I am donating towards).

No - but it seems that Bitcoin 100 has become derailed anyway so feel free to keep at it then.

Maybe I missed something with the whole documentary thing going on as I have never heard of this one before that post - I thought only Bruno was to be contacting the charities on behalf of Bitcoin 100 and so this didn't seem right to me.

It just seems to have veered off from *charities* which was where it started - I am sorry if my post was wrong (although I don't appreciate being questioned as to whether I am "high") - feel free to ask a mod to delete both those posts (his response to my post doesn't make him look so good either).

I was one of the first to donate and did so 3 times but I just don't think this thing is working like it used to (and am not keen on the "new way").

The Director of a local charity, Generations of Hope, heard a piece on Bitcoins today on NPR.  I have been trying to convince them to accept Bitcoins, but they are not sure it is worth the effort.  I think now might be the right time to strike.  I am not completely familiar with Bitcoin 100, but this seems like the right place.  I will pledge 1 BTC toward them accepting Bitcoins.

They are a nonprofit organization that supports a community of foster children, families and senior citizens.  The goal of the organization is to provide financial and community assistance to families to support adoption of hard to place children.  Additionally, the senior citizens in the community provide a "grand parent role".  They are located on an old air force base and maintain 50+ housing units for the families and senior citizens.  I am sure a few BTC could go a long way to support additional families.

Please let me know if you have any resources or advice to aid in convincing Generations of Hope to accept bitcoins.  I am confident that with sufficient motivation, they would place a donate button on their web site.

I was thinking BitPay sounded like a good approach.

I think if I tell them they will receive $1000 for putting up a little HTML, they'll jump on it.  Any way to get them "approved" to join the Bitcoin 100?
