Count me in, at least for the first few rounds. I have a few extra bitcoins (and I hope to get more, so I can keep donating).
Bitcoins are a great way to anonymously donate to charities.
Some people think libertarians are against charities and helping the poor. On the contrary, libertarians willingly donate to charities, they just don't like being forced to give to others. (Not trying to make this a political discussion, just throwing it out there)

my interpretation of such.
In re, your second sentence. I didn't know there were libertarians on this board. May have to rethink my Bitcoin position now that this relative information has come to light. Seriously, I lean Conservative, but hold many values and political views offered up by the other parties. I even lean towards atheism which would shock my Jehovah Witness friend (if he knew) who stopped by yesterday to witness to me. Afterwards, I'm pretty sure he was somewhat shocked when I ask him to lead us (him and I) in prayer. I say that because I'm also sure he hadn't gotten that request very often by others he's witnessed to.
Clearly at $2.35 per btc, with one or two charities per week accepting bitcoin, most people living in Western countries should be able to afford this. However should 1 bitcoin be worth $10,000 5 years from now, I may have difficulty producing the money (even if I've invested in bitcoins).
I would therefore like to modify my initial promise to the first 150 charities (that way I can buy 150btc today knowing I can keep to my side of the agreement irrespective of the future value of bitcoin)
I realise posting a reply on a forum doesn't form a contractual legal agreement (does it?!), but I'd like to be able to take part at the level I feel I can afford. And I think if I have a 100btc personal investment 5 years from now, I may be a bit hesitant giving them away to charity if they are worth $10,000 each.
Once we get to 150 charities, I'll see where I stand.
Edit - I've just now bought 150 bitcoins to cover this - I look forward to the 1st charity that accepts
As BT mentioned (quoted below), the 1 BTC is not written in stone. It will be adjusted when (hell with if or if/when) Bitcoin increase in value. That said, I have you down for
1.5M BTC

Can we get bit-pay involved in this somehow so these organizations have an easy, "done for you" solution to accepting bitcoins?
Maybe the guys at bit-pay would be willing to lower their fees for charitable organizations?
Bit-pay already has
a plan for charities.
I feel I can work bit-pay into the
Bitcoin100 equation, Meni & gigasvps.
I can offer 1 BTC per charity up to a maximum of 100 BTC.
I reserve the right to refuse to donate to a charity I have a strong moral objection to but I highly doubt this will apply to more than 1 or 2 of 100 randomly selected charities.
Additionally, I would require there to be a mailing list which would e-mail me about each new charity and provide a link and a BTC address (the e-mail address I use here is my old address and not suitable).

Reservations will be allowed by all those who pledge. The finer details will be worked out so that all know what charitable organization they'll be donating to. Members may even request how they would like to be contacted and updated, differently. For starters, along with this thread, I'll have a Twitter account set up, Facebook, Google+, etc.,--the usual suspects--to keep everyone abreast.
Note to self: Next time keep your ideas to yourself. This is beginning to be a job. But, like McDonalds--I'm Lovin' It!
