But if a builder like Casey Rodarmor develops something that allows users to inscribe and hold on-chain dick pics and fart sounds, WHICH, doesn't break any consensus rules - that's not OK?

I have to admit, the whole thing was pretty entertaining, except when I was trying to make normal bitcoin transactions, then it was a true pain in the ass. Just imagine if your business relied on processing BTC transactions with any sort of regularity, and then all the sudden an average fee shoots up from $1 to $10 to $20 within minutes. Not fun.
The Bitcoin Core maintainers in their infinite wisdom settled on the wisest approach, which was to do nothing at all and let everything sort itself out. It indeed has. Ordinals was a bubble, and now its no more. I can't help but think a cap on the size of witness data might still be prudent in the future, however.
I don't think we will see fees going above 100 sat/vB again this year, unless ordinals come back.
There are many empty blocks being mined recently, as mempool was empty few hours ago.
I consolidated most of my inputs, but I still got about 2 addresses with 10-20 inputs. I will consolidate them soon too.
I made a consolidation of 200+ inputs for 18 USD, pretty amazing. for 1.2 sat/vB
