Here is an interesting quote from a pretty big developer in the Bitcoin world. He has just announced he will be helping to integrate Bitcoin fully into reddit.
http://www.redditblog.com/2014/12/welcome-drew-ryan-mike-daniel-joe-dave.html"I discovered bitcoin on May 13, 2011 and never recovered. After developing a reputation as the bitcoin guy at the physics department, I eventually quit my physics PhD program and went full-time bitcoin. I worked for the best bitcoin company in the world, BitPay, but couldn't pass up an opportunity to bring bitcoin to millions of reddit users. I'm working on reddit's digital asset, as well as general purpose bitcoin infrastructure to enable things like micropayments and contracts. My favorite things are elliptic curves, hash functions, and Merkle trees. My favorite subreddits arer/bitcoin,r/sloths andr/earthporn.
If I had written bitcoin, it would have been in javascript."
A lot of people will talk trash about Java, but it is actually a very good program and many top developers think so.
