I would guess that there is now a chance that for the first time in his history, Lebron could get traded. I do not know how and why and to where, but Lakers are feeling like Lebron at least has some financial value, he is a great player but also has financial value, people come out to watch him, and they could trade him to some team for future assets back. They lost all their picks, and if they could trade Westbrook, AD and Lebron to some team for just some assets, and expiring contracts. Then they could rebuild it like they did during last years of Kobe.
That D'lo, Randle, Lonzo, Ingram, Hart, Clarkson, Kuzma, Caruso type of players are now doing pretty well, if they were all back in Lakers today, they would be doing better than right now. I am not even kidding, those players in the same team today would be doing better than today's Lakers. Hence rebuilding could start as soon as this off season.
I doubt that. They are keeping Lebron for different reasons and it will stay that way before the last year of his career where he might end up in Cleveland just for a come back and a big hand of applause. What I think will happen is the same thing they did 2 years ago after the championship.
Go deep in releasing their players and put something new in their roster. They will keep some like Reaves and Monk. AD and Lebron will stay and they will be looking for younger guys now because the veteran move didn't work.
