Sorry to urinate on the parade, but this is not a "real" ATH. The last ATH was an ATH in all currencies, this is only an ATH in USD.
So it's not bitcoin that has gone up in price, it's the US dollar that has gone down in price.

don't get me wrong, bitcoin is going up in price, and I'm glad it does, but it's not going up as much as it seems from a US dollar viewpoint.

my favorite thing about the ath's;

if bitcoin has reached ath, there is not a single person who owns bitcoin who is at a loss. everyone's cost is lower than the current price and everyone who owns bitcoin is in profit.

i would like to mention this because i think we will start to see ath's more often.

We've seen so many of these models and things pop up and be accurate, but this one is different for a reason that I think is very important.

And it's not because it's gonna hold up. I think eventually it will diverge one way or another. It's just the way indicators like this go... When enough of us monkeys figure out what's happening and it changes the game.

But there's the key. There's going to be a lot of monkeys that this turns the light bulb on for them.

What is really changing here is the narrative   Bitcoin is becoming a global belief system when it comes to monetary truth.

Masses and masses of smart people are going to figure out for the first time here in 2025 that Bitcoin isn't going up. World fiat currencies are evaporating.

That chart, even to the extent it has stayed so close so far, is screaming that at the top of its lungs. So it's not going to even matter if we quit following it exactly because this isn't about the price. This is about how people think.

Pride is nice too though. 😜

Back to what I was saying about Metaplanet - that's the Japanese bitcoin proxy inspired by Michael Saylor's Strategy.


You can read the linked article if you want to know more, but what happened is that several large hedge funds were shorting Metaplanet like mad. I'm not sure if they knew they were basically shorting bitcoin.
With the recent price surge and ATH, I wonder how well are those hedge funds doing.
This little episode could turn into a lesson in the general "Don't Short the Corn" subject, with an important generalization: don't short companies that have a bitcoin treasury. Don't short companies that act as bitcoin proxies. If it works, I think several other companies will feel safer from hedge funds' predatory practices.

I do hope those funds involved bleed to death.

Wrote this before going to the hospital then my internet went down (some idiot cut my fiber) and I didn't post it :

Hey guys. I'd like a small fiat loan (much less than 1 BTC) backed by corn. I will put enough so that a margin call shouldn't be an issue, unless we really krach hard, at which point I would probably buy back more corn so it's OK.

However I noticed providers really take high fees/rates.

Someone who manages the assets of HNWIs told me I could get a better rate if the corn would be in an ETF instead of on chain. Of course we're only talking about a small amount of my stash.

I could consider this, however is there a ramp into the ETF that doesn't involve fiat ? Because using fiat is a non starter, that would be a taxable event.

I figure ETFs need to buy corn so there might be a way, on the other hand they're probably buying from whales...
