How many teams are left in IPL by now?
When is the quarterfinal. Lots of teams - lots of players. And not having an access of the IPL in our region is a trouble though. I get an idea of what is going on in IPL by reading the posts in the forum.
Only 4 teams are having a real chance of progressing to the next phase - the two new teams (Lucknow & Gujarat), as well as Rajasthan and Bangalore. The remaining teams have 10 points or less, and require some miracle in order to progress to the next stage. And apart from RCB, each of these teams have only three matches each left. The bottom ranking teams (CSK, KKR and MI) have zero chance of progressing to the next phase as they don't have enough points. And that is why today's match (Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders) doesn't have any relevance.
Hyderabad, Delhi and Punjab have scored 10 points in 11 matches. However, they are 4 points behind fourth-ranked Bangalore. However, if they can play well in the upcoming matches, they will be able to qualify for the next round. However, Hyderabad is still in a very bad position after losing the last 4 matches. I think if Delhi performs a little regularly, they will be able to go to the next round.
Kolkata and Mumbai will probably not qualify for the next round. However, the match will be competitive. Because Mumbai's performance in the last two matches was quite good.
